3sgebeams 0 Posted January 8, 2015 Dear users, I'm running a CCTV system design for a large Mall in Perú, my question is, is there any solution like NVT but more affordable? My distances are between 200 and 400 meters, so IP CCTV was discarded regards Miguel

If your designing a large mall with budget system prices then your not designing the right system for the environment. First you need to educate your customer. System fit for purpose is needed in mall public space. Cameras good for recognition Storage what is length of time needed to store VMS. What is your customer expecting from the system. Avigilon for this type of install large malls airports dock areas it ticks the box for them all

I just need another alternative for NTV
tomcctv 190 Posted January 8, 2015 Miguel The project scope specifies Analog system, budget and prices are mandatory, we are competing against many companies so the best and affordable solution is the key, Yes think your right Can get some $10 cameras off ebay that should get you price down for install ........ But dought its fit for the job. It's a public place so even if mall owners are stating what they need at end of day they know nothing. Should be seeing what local police expect from the system and local authorities. Many install companies get job designs and quote requests in on there desk. And most of time next to a desk is a waste paper bin. Like I said in first post ...... Educate your customer this is a large mall it needs better than cheap analog cameras. http://www.news24.com/Tags/Topics/kenya_mall_attack http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/12/31/nsw-man-charged-after-mall-attack Cctv is a collection of events of anything that happends. Even down to protecting public from pick pockets and system has to be fit for that Again it's educate ........ask your customer what he expects from the system
triski 0 Posted January 14, 2015 if it does specify analog - which in this day and age is insane.. Then you could get an encoder/ balun to fibre and send it across an entire building easily.. I would suggest just using IP from the get go. Axis encoders are probably best, then distribute video to the network, and if need be use fibre. A mall is likely to have fibre/ ethernet infrastructure, A colleague does a lot of work in South America. We are quite big in that region triski
survtech 0 Posted January 22, 2015 Vigitron is a bit cheaper than NVT for analog-over-UTP. 200-250M can be run passive-passive but longer runs will require an active receiver coupled with passive baluns. You can trunk the system using 25-pair cables to punchdown blocks at central locations, then punchdown 4-pair to the camera locations.

We took over a mall with 1500ft coax runs which I tested with Veracity no bueno. No issues with Vigitron powering UNBT wireless APs, Arecont 360 cameras and Avigilon PTZ cameras which require POE+ Next week we are installing 2 Avigilon dome cameras using Vigitrons POE over 2-wire solution in a couple of elevators. Great product just need to improve marketing.
