gabemcg 0 Posted January 15, 2015 Setting up email alerts from my Hikvision NVR... not working. Sniffed the traffic leaving my network, and the NVR is sending a HELO command with 'dvrdvs' as the hostname. The mail server rejects the connection because the HELO command does not have a fully qualified hostname. I logged into the NVR via telnet, and set the hostname to be a fully qualified one, and now it works. Anyone else seen this issue? Any way to set the hostname via the GUI? If not, how can I set the hostname via the CLI so that it is preserved on reboots?
Securame 0 Posted January 15, 2015 I never had a problem with SMTP on any of the Hikvision devices I have used it (DVR, NVR and IP camera). I use mostly gmail for email sending. Maybe the email server you are using is being a little too picky?
gabemcg 0 Posted January 15, 2015 More specifically: 550 R1: HELO should be a FQDN or address literal (See RFC 2821 4.1.1.1)
