Problem with remote viewing

Hello everyone I was hoping that you guys can help me on this one.

 

I have a DVR system that installed for a in-law that can be "viewed" locally and remotely.

Now notice that I have quotation marks on viewed. That's because when I try to view the DVR remotely with my internet connection (with any device that is connected to my internet connection) it tells me it can not connect.

 

How can this be?

 

Any help would be great. And if you need to ask me any question to get more info then asks away.

EDIT: I just tried to do the same thing with my DVR but to view with my in-law internet connection. And show the same result.
