HD-CVI DOES WORK WITH CAT6!

Recommended Posts

After all this discussions, I have done an installation where two cameras are almost 600' away from the DVR. It's a Dahua HCVR5208 DVR, and one camera is HAC-HDW1100R and the other one is a PTZ: SD59112I/120I-HC.

It's a total of 8 cameras, but these two are the furthest cameras out of all of them, so in my opinion, COAX will always be the better solution, but CAT6 with Video Balums works. I will get some screenshots of day and night views and post them.

Note: I used one wire per camera, one pair for video, one pair for power except the PTZ which I used two pairs since it's 24 Volts.

Why it seems that so much people around here doubted that HDCVI (or HDTVI for that matter) worked with UTP and baluns?

Of course it does. Dahua has even been advertising the max UTP lengths I would say that from day one they started pushing out HDCVI. You even have HDCVI/HDTVI baluns on the market, which are supposed to give you better quality when using longer cable runs.
