karlfields 0 Posted January 20, 2015 I am searching for what I am sure is a rather odd system. Total cameras will be from 64-96, ideally closer to 96. Outdoors, 0 lux night vision, bullets. System will only be used 20 nights a month, an average of 5 hours per night, so even though it's a lot of cameras, there only needs to be 100 hours or so storage space per camera. No need to save old footage. I am not opposed to having three, 32 camera systems, and then view each of the NVRs over a network. Obviously I would also need software to control this. For cost reasons I probably would not go with IP cameras. Focal range with normally be 10-15' from camera. I have looked until my eyes have bled, and just get more confused. Even started looking at Chinese systems! Of course I want to go the most cost effective route while still having great footage to view. Any clarification needed, feel free to ask. Any hints, recommendations or whatever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you, Karl Fields
secplus 0 Posted January 21, 2015 Well, in order to for us to help you, we need a little more information. 1. What's the furthest distance that any one camera will be from the recorders. 2. If you could say what type of environment is this going to be used in, meaning a warehouse that's closed at night, or a big parking lot, box store, ETC. This will give us a better idea of what to look for in terms of night vision. 3. Depending on what system you decide to use, you can set a schedule to record when you want to. 4. There are 64ch, or 128ch DVR systems that you can use, again depending on what type of technology you use, you said IP is too expensive, take a look at HD-CVI stuff, only drawback is the length of cable runs you can use, preferably COAX cable. I use Dahua DVR's and their SmartPSS software to view over 300 cameras from different DVR's that we have installed over time, so take a look at those, and don't be afraid of "Chinese" equipment, almost every "American" manufacturer, even the big boys, are nothing more than re-packaged Chinese equipment. A little more info goes a long way.
karlfields 0 Posted January 21, 2015 Well, in order to for us to help you, we need a little more information. Thanks for the response. My answers in red. 1. What's the furthest distance that any one camera will be from the recorders. Probably 200' if I went with three recorders. Maybe 800' if only one. 2. If you could say what type of environment is this going to be used in, meaning a warehouse that's closed at night, or a big parking lot, box store, ETC. This will give us a better idea of what to look for in terms of night vision. We are a large commercial haunted house covering about 6 acres. 10,000 sqft undercover. So nighttime with little or no light. Yes, fog and strobes will be issues. Camera are two fold in purpose, one, to identify (as best as we can) individuals that trash our stuff and assault actors, and secondly to see how things are running. 4. There are 64ch, or 128ch DVR systems that you can use, again depending on what type of technology you use, you said IP is too expensive, take a look at HD-CVI stuff, only drawback is the length of cable runs you can use, preferably COAX cable. I am ASSUMING that IP is too expensive. My handyman says he can run CAT6 and do connectors much easier and cheaper than coax. Suggestion was made to use a BNC to CAT adaptor, then run CAT in buildings to a patch panel, which would eventually be hooked to NVR
secplus 0 Posted January 22, 2015 Well, if costs are a concern, and you are doing your own installation, then you have a couple of options. First three 32CH systems are going to be your best bet, not only for costs, but because that one camera at 800ft is going to have issues especially when the ir's turn on, plus a 128ch system is going to cost you more than 3 32ch systems. Also think redundancy. One dvr goes, you still have two running. HDCVI. This would be your best option. At this point stay away from old analog, this technology is being fazed out and will be obsolete shorty. A 720p or 1080p system will be best. You can run CAT6 and use "video baluns" (the cat6 to bnc adapter ) Night vision should be more than adequate, don't worry about smoke machines or strobe lights, the cameras wont be affected as long as they are not pointed directly to the light. the only thing is that you cant use a patch panel, wire directly from camera to DVR. one wire per camera, if you try to use two cameras on one wire, you will have image quality issues and this is true for all type or camera technology. karlfields 0 Posted April 29, 2015 So I did find a moderate priced 32 channel IP system, with NVR, BUT I need a router between cameras and NVR. Is this as simple as getting some 10/100/1000 routers and daisy chain them? 32 port rounters seem to be out of our price range.

You do not need 32 port routers you need X number port network switch (depend on your network design)

Hi. What will you be looking at with cameras ??? You seems to be worried about budget and doing cheap So from your post above ......... 96 cameras are not going to be cheap ..... So why install 96 cameras and not have them protect buy the system every day and night. Reduce the amount of cameras and budget more storage. Is you system for theft or vandalism or just to monitor an event
