rory 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Just that their DVRs are made by HikVision which is located in China.
Securitymaster 0 Posted February 26, 2006 They sell basically low end stuff. Not bad if you have a budget customer, better than COP, that's for sure.

Ringsixty 0 Posted February 26, 2006 (edited) Just that their DVRs are made by HikVision which is located in China. I think most everything now days are made over there. Geo etc. Here is a sad story. I order bulk Headsets from HongKong for my internet cafe. The shipment will go from James town (HK) to Alaska to Cali. then come to Hawaii. I sometimes just want them to put little parachutes on my orders and just drop them out of the plane as they pass over my state on the way to the mainland. May save me a few bucks Everthing is Air to Hawaii = Arm, Leg and a few other body parts...AAAhhhhhh! Edited February 26, 2006 by Guest

rory 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Nope, South Korea and Taiwan with South Korea having the higher end equipment, Taiwan being involved mostly with software, sourcing alot of ready made boards from South Korea, and with all of them sourcing components from Japan - Japan having the highest quality stuff but generally component non western OEM stuff (except for Sony, Sanyo, Ganz, and a couple others) China normally is the rock bottom entry level stuff like COP and MACE, etc. HikVision is an exception to the rule from what I have seen in the specs, but I havent used them personally so cant say. Anyway. there is no one company/manufacturer that sells everything for every application, though you could check out GE, they have a full line of Hidden Cameras, Vandal and Regular Domes, PTZs, Box cams, and their DVRs are some of the best Stand Alone DVRs in the industry with a long proven track record (under the Kalatel name before GE). They arent cheap gear though. For budget gear though you will need to go OEM. Rory

rory 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Depends, there is Samsung GVI and Samsung Techwin, Techwin having the higher quality gear.
KrCCTV 0 Posted February 27, 2006 Right on in regards to Aventura Rory... though I understand that their ties to Hikvision aren't what they once were (they were calling themselves HikvisionUSA for some time, though they weren't officially, but that relationship fizzled to some extent as I understand that they never delivered on what they had promissed). As an alternate source, if interested, contact my buddy Michael in San Diego (an extremely straight shooter, very knowledgable and with the utmost integrity). Dealers only... contact Michael at www.thevideospecialists.com On the other hand (shameless plug coming) dealers (only) can contact me on the Samsung Techwin product. We proudly distribute that. libertysurveillance 0 Posted March 2, 2006 I've dealt with Aventura before, the guy Ed Matulik there is a great sales guy.. but he's only just that. Their PTZ's are pretty good, but we had a problem getting them to work with their own h.264 pc based cards. Said to set dip to 1, didnt work couldnt get the damn thing to pan/zoom. So we tried on 2.. what ya know worked fine. Dunno if it was a typo, engineering bug for the hardware or the software. but all in all their cameras are average, the ptz's have a great picture, and great speed for the price. their pc based cards are ok, took up quite a bit of space even with the new h.264 standard. p.s. if you do call eddie, tell him Frank from liberty sent ya! mazonvision 0 Posted March 11, 2006 i think COP and Hikvision is doing a pretty decent job even most of their product from China. Everybody wants to cut down their cost. Not bad for budget customers. http://www.mazonvision.com
