greenphotos 0 Posted February 2, 2015 Hi all, I'm new here so sorry if I've posted in the wrong part of the forum. Admin please move if so I am moving to a new house in London soon which I'll be running 2 Hikvision domes and Xprotect. Much fun! Anyhooo - reason for post is I would like to find out my legal rights on filming my driveway, and partially the path roadway next to it (I honestly do not want or need to film the neighbours!) I have been warned about RIPA (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000/23/contents) however I think that's only for officially filming public, not private use. Can someone help please? Mark I think you can better ask the police or laywer for advice. But first tell your neighbours the reason why you have the cameras bit pointed to the roadway. Since, it is most likely that your neighbours will complain about it (http://www.problemneighbours.co.uk/what-can-we-do-about-neighbours-cctv-camera.html). But here is also a discussion: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-857472.html
tomcctv 190 Posted February 2, 2015 Hi . Your system is not covered by RIPA it is a short term licence for temp. Does not matter which part of London you are in (or rest of UK) Seeing your post I see you understand about next doors private space so you will have no problem at all
greenphotos 0 Posted February 2, 2015 Thank you! Would hope not to need any licences, but would like to reassure neighbours who are not aware of the regulations etc, that the cameras a: only record my property, and b: the cameras do not fall under public camera regulations. Bit worried that the angle I'll need to have them at to not film neighbours across the street, will mean anyone with a cap will hide their face... Anyone have a porch mounted cam and worry about encroaching neighbours with it's field of view?
tomcctv 190 Posted February 2, 2015 Hi your cameras are not under any public regulations unless you are a shop or bar Places like london you will get encroaching and most do Peoples mistake is putting up cctv and placing signs on domestic homes

tomcctv 190 Posted February 2, 2015 Sorry signs are bad on domestic homes We have a lot of cameras up around London . Just put your cameras up and don't say anything to houses around you ..... If they think they have a problem let them come talk to you
