igknight 0 Posted February 16, 2015 First, I've read the other GeoVision threads about poor image quality, and Geovision support basically told me to get IP cameras. The company I work at is finally upgrading their security camera system, and a company I've dealt with in the past sold us this system (not much help from them either, about to send it all back). Window 7 x86 Pro (tried to sell us home) Gigabyte Motherboard GA-H97M-D3H (integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 video card) Intel Core i5-4590 (3.3GHz) 4GB RAM 128 SSD (Windows) 2x 2TB drives to split the recordings on. GeoVision GV-900A capture card (32) Mix of AGI Cameras (CA-TIR8-842 and CA-DIR8-820W) Multicam Surveillance System v.8.5.9.0 We currently only have 5 plugged in, but the quality is crap. From what I've read on this site, it could possibly be the graphics card, so I put in a NVIDIA Quadro FX570 that I had sitting here. No change. Video source is currently 704*480 De-Interlaced (both the place I bought this and Geovision said to use this one), the pictures were from when it was set to 640*480 De-Interlaced (no quality change). On one of the images I just made a small cable and pointed it at a box and brought up the menu on the camera. You can see that isn't even clear. I have used two different RG-59 brands with the same results. We have used these cameras with other pre-built DVR systems with much better quality. What am I missing? Is it a setting in the software or possibly something else? Any help would be appreciated. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Boogieman 1 Posted February 16, 2015 Dont know whats wrong there but those are not ip cameras.... If you want good quality either get 1080p ip cameras or if you want to use your coax, then use something like CVI (by dahua) which is HD over analog. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If this is something you are being sold ..... Then don't buy That is an old card ..we used to fit them 5 years ago . If you do start to use .... First you need a standard monitor not wide screen Second you will need to set card for its lowest ..... Which is CIF That card will do D1 but at 32 will only do 3.5 fps And for a card that is still being sold between $500 to $800 it is just not worth it Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

igknight 0 Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks for the replies, and forgive me, I'm new to CCTV. I'm a photographer and have done some video editing, so I'm familiar with some of this, but my knowledge in that area I think is getting in the way more than anything. Cameras are AGI Cameras (CA-TIR8-842 and CA-DIR8-820W). The pictures with people in them are the CA-DIR8-820W, the menu picture is one of the CA-TIR8-842. Both camera specs: 1/3" CMOS NTSC: 1296*1041 1000 TV Lines Cable, I think the model number of what we have is VC-WRG59W1000UL, its the normal 75ohm Siamese Cable RG59+18/2 Power UL Listed CCTV cable. We have two ends. Ideal RG-59 BNC (59BNCIS) and Greenlee RG-59 (PA9730). Both have the same results. Cable runs I would say are about 30' on the pictures. The picture of just the cameras menu is about 5' Power is provided by two power boxes (http://www.agicctv.com/productDetail.aspx?item=AGVCFBI679) I just got my hands on an HD 4ch DVR and 1 HD camera I'm testing with. We plugged the CA-DIR8-820W camera into it, and it still looks like crap, so it may be the cameras. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
