xavier4or 0 Posted February 18, 2015 I have forwarded / open up around dozen other ports on my Asus wireless router (RT-AC68U) - but trying to add 2 new ports unsuccessfully. Here is where I am at: * Verified the 2 ports are listed in the router setting to be forwarded * Have tried deleting them and re-adding them a couple of times to the router * Tried rebooting the cable modem and the wireless Router * And I even tried to select 2 other ports number as a test case * But ports do not show open via external site (ie canyouseeme.org) Sorry for the newbiw question - but I am at a loss of what to try next. 51cent 8 Posted February 22, 2015 A couple of problems I have encountered (not an Asus, but a 2wire router) 1. I can't open ports over 50,000. 50,000 was ok, but 50001 and above wouldn't forward 2. Forwarded ports wouldn't open/work unless I let DHCP assign the ip address. When I assigned a static ip address to the camera, I couldn't forward the ports. After that I would change make that ip address static (uncheck use DHCP on the cameras). A google search may help find the oddities in your router.
ssnapier 0 Posted February 22, 2015 What are the port numbers you are trying to open? Have you checked to see if they are on the reserved ports list? It is a rather long list: http://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.xhtml
