HFW4300S Reset button picture ??

Recommended Posts

So Ive googled, trolled, searched, deconstructed, sobered up, tried it all over again and for the life of me I can't find this damn hard reset button.

I've read it's just behind the glass, but no joy. I then looked on the camera board and same as before... I have looked for a manual, pictures, and ever nugget of info I could find with no luck.

So here I am pleading for a picture of someone's reset button just so I can verify I am not crazy and it does not exist on my camera.

Full disclosure, totally IP camera newb and bought this to play around with the idea of DIY surveillance. Unfortunately in my play around I did something that no longer lets my camera be recognized by the PSS and I just get "search stream timeout" now when trying to use the live view... Oddly enough I can go into the device config option and see a version of "live view" by going to video detect>Motion detect and setting the zone... But that is the only place I can see any live video now. Hoping to reset and just start fumbling around again.

...as an update it appears the V2 version of the HFW4300S is lacking a few things, haven't figured it all out yet. So if anyone has any details please chime before I go Zoolander on my camera... "It's in the computer!"

I have also posed this question to Dahua... after doing a little more searching I found a good side by side comparison from a vendor on BABA.

See the image below, camera on the right is a V1 with the reset button clearly visible through the glass. The camera on the right it is noticeably missing.

Last update for that evening...

Logging in by way of the web client and clicking the "default" button (not a lot of explanation around this button) restores the camera back to factory settings. Obviously this won't help folks that are locked out of the camera because of networking issues, but it sure helped me when blowing away whatever settings I had changed to kill the camera (which was all done through the device config).

Any who, I still have a note out to Dahua in regard to a hard reset button and I will update this post when I hear back.

You can telnet into the camera and there are number of useful binaries in the user shell that can help correct and diagnose some of the problems people are experiencing.

There is a command to reset all the parameters back to factory defaults (username, password, ip address back to 192.168.1.108 etc.) This can be accomplished with /sbin/clearparam.

This is the same as the defaults button.
