sksmith77 0 Posted February 23, 2015 I have two DVRs that need a hard drive. One is a Falco 4 camera DVR I believe gen 4. The other is an Evertech 4 camera DVR that didn't come with an installed hard drive. I purchased a WD 500 Gig hard drive that is on the list of compatible hard drives for the Evertech. On both machines when I plug in the Hard Drive to the DVR and power it up, I cannot access the menu screen. Also, the HDD light on the front is not on. I believe the DVR is not recognizing the hard drive. How do I format the hard drive from the DVR if I can't access the menu? Do I need to format from a PC? Don Stephens 0 Posted February 23, 2015 The hard drive is either broken already or isn't compatible with the DVR. Not being able to access the main menu is a typical, albeit unpredictable, action of a hard drive that's not playing nicely. Return the drive, try a different one. If the hard drive is brand new, there shouldn't be any reason to format it and if you do, it's not going to help. What model WD HDD is it?
