Need help with iVMS-4200 playback on HikVision DS-7216HGHI

Recommended Posts

Installed a DS-7216HGHI 16 position HikVision DVR with 4tb drive.

Running iVMS-4300 V2.3.0.5 on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC.

Seems to be setup properly and running 9 cameras.

When I click REMOTE PLAYBACK I get a list of files recorded.

I am running a mix of some 24h record, others motion control only.

When I click one of the entries for either 24h recorded device or

motion recorded cameras I get xxx playback failed, error code, iVMS-4200[0].

If I format the hard drive and record for a while I get very few records.

Any ideas?

Try to access the device from a web browser, and playback some videos from there to make sure everything is being recorded ok.

If you are having troubles iwth iVMS-4200, it would help if you make screenshots of exactly what you are doing.

Seems that none of the cameras that were set for motion detect recorded.

The scheduled record cameras did record ok (but poorly)

When I tried to playback a recorded camera it would get playback failed for several clicks

then it would display. When I clicked playback again it would take several more clicks

to show the file again. When it displayed it was correct.

Can't seem to get event record to work at all.

Anyone have any ideas?

Then yoiu have not configured it right. Post screenshots of your calendar/recording config.

Event -> Schedule

Event -> Motion detection

Also, it will not make a difference in the fact that you are not doing the config right, but you have firmware 3.1.3 available, it would be a good moment to update it.

Do you see something wrong with the configuration?

I cannot find firmware 3.1.3 anywhere, where is it located?

Thanks Jerry

Here is event management and schedule management.

I schedule cam 2, and motion cam 3.

Am running 3.0.2 firmware, they say that is latest for USA.

They do not recommend I use the European firmware.

Thanks Jerry

The event management you are configuring on iVMS-4200 has nothing to do with the motion detection on the device, which should be adjusted as I said before from Remote configuration:

Event -> Schedule

Event -> Motion detection

The local recordings you do in your computer with iVMS-4200 also have nothing to do with the recordings the DVR is doing on its internal hard drive.

I go back to my recomendation of accessing the device with a web browser, and doing the config there. That way you won't mess up the local (iVMS-4200) config with the remote (DS-7216HGHI) config.

If in doubt, reset the device to factory settings, which will take it back to 24/7 recording on all channels.

I seem to have the most basic misunderstanding!!

I thought the iVMS-4200 program controlled the settings on the DS-7216HGHI.

You seem to be saying they are entirely separate if I understand you properly.

You can configure the DS-7216HGHI; but you are not doing it.

Device management -> Server -> choose device -> Remote configuration -> Event

If you are unable to configure your device from iVMS-4200, just do it from the web interface on the device.

Which is the third picture I posted.

Does that look OK?
