What does a failing IR cam look like??

Recommended Posts

I have a number of the same bullet cams. They've been up for close to 3 years now. Some of 'em are washing out in one corner for no apparent reason. After cancelling out the moon or streetlights, dust, webs etc., I can only arrive at LED burnout as a wild guess. I have this occurence with a few others of the same cam. Are these cameras dying a slow and painful death or is something else going on? No biggie replacing them. For the money, this camera has been a workhorse for me and produced a decent image as well.

Also, I recently put up these Nuvico bullets.

So far so good and the camera has nice specs for a bullet. Anyone using these? Ill need something rugged and with good IR range as a replacement when its necessary?

Thanks

You could try using a separate infrared array to shoot

next to the fade. Maybe even a nightshot camcorder.

If the picture restores, you have a dying infrared led.

Most of the time the leds last about 3-4 years in bullet

cameras.

Just a thought...

Hey... look at the bright side - "very little DVR storage space required" (well under 1k/image).

That was a good one Rick.

If you look at the IR, (in the dark) do all the LED's look evenly lit?

Wow Rick!

Your camera really looks like its in tough shape. I know where to find you a great deal on some used bullet cams. Real cheap!

Yeah the LED's do look evenly lit. However, the cameras are around 3 years old. Considering what I paid for em, they're probably goners.

Thanks
