gmartz 0 Posted March 28, 2015 I'm not sure if I'm in the right section to post this one since I couldn't find a section for NVRs. Anyway, could anyone explain what does Decoding mean when it comes to DVRs/NVRs? I'm checking out this data sheet of Hikvision's DS-7600NI-E Series (Plug&Play NVR) and it says: Decoding Capability 4-channel model: 4-ch@1080p 8-channel model: 8-ch@720p, 6-ch@1080p 16-channel model: 16-ch@4CIF, 12-ch@720p, 6-ch@1080p Does this pertain to the NVR's live viewing? Thank you in advance!
Securame 0 Posted March 28, 2015 Yes, it also applies to live viewing. Keep in mind that with IP cameras the encoding is done at the camera level. So when you are viewing a stream on the NVR, it has to be decoded by the unit.
donna1205 0 Posted July 14, 2023 It's important to note that the decoding capability slither io can also depend on the network bandwidth and the processing power of the NVR. Higher-resolution video streams or a larger number of camera channels may require more processing power and network bandwidth.
