I am glad that Avigilon once again sets the bar in high resolution enterprise solutions.

 

They are always so ahead in the game over others.

 

Having cut their teeth with a robust jpeg 2000 database, H.264 was a breeze.

Any idea what the fps is on these?

I'm trying to identify owls at about 100m at night and they can be reasonably fast.

Unless you have really deep pockets this will probably not be the camera for you.

 

First you have to buy a Cannon Lens. They vary from 1500 to 10,000 dollars.

And then the camera will be somewhere in between those 2 numbers.

 

I wouldn't expect more than 12fps if that.

The 10MP JPEG2000 camera did 4fps and it was close to 10k without the lens.

The 16MP HD Pro does 10FPS so it will likely be less than that but more than the current 29MP MP JPEG2000 which is 2FPS.

It will be interesting to see when the specs come out! I have 4 off cheap 10fps 5mp now, but it's just not clear enough. Fine for badger and pine marten, but the owl identification is a problem. Not sure I would call 2fps "video"....

There is a photo floating around the internet somewhere of a Avigilon 16mp Pro with a 1000mm Lens on it shooting Sydney at 7000 Meters.

It was pretty impressive.

Impressive, but I am only after 100m.

 

What is most concerning is that that looks like the sigmonster, and I have one but with an olympus 4/3 mount.

I wonder what the sensor size is on the camera, and if I could get an adaptor or if I'd have to have it remounted.

I also cant think how I'd hang it on the wall!
