bazinlondon 0 Posted April 8, 2015 Hi I'm looking to get a 8 port POE Switch. I need it to initially power 2 x AXIS Q3505 camera's. I may add 2 mote in due course. The camera's could be up to 100 meters away. Recommendations please
cglaeser 0 Posted April 8, 2015 You may also want to consider a multiport POE injector. They are inexpensive and allow you to choose any switch. I recently purchased this 12 port injector to use with my 24 port switch and I'm pleased with the price and performance. http://tinyurl.com/ouonkh4
myiicu 0 Posted April 9, 2015 Very nice camera! Axis Q3505-V indoor PoE=5.5W Axis Q3505-VE outdoor PoE=11.4W I like Cisco's small business managed switches. http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/small-business-smart-switches/data_sheet_c78-610061.html SG300-10MP or SG300-10MPP PoE=124W 10/100/1000 capacity=14.88mpps switching capacity=20Gbps SF302-08MP or SF302-08MPP PoE=124W 10/100 capacity=4.17mpps switching capacity=5.6Gbps
bazinlondon 0 Posted April 9, 2015 some have said that I need to potential have more than 15.4W because the distance of Ethernet cable could be more than 50 meters. is there any truth in that?
myiicu 0 Posted April 10, 2015 Maximum distance from PoE switch to PoE camera is 100m (333ft). PoE is approximately 48V, so voltage drop is minimal. With 100m CAT5 cable, approximately 4W will be loss. With 50m CAT5 cable, approximately 2W will be loss I use quality CAT6 cable for my installations. CAT6 conductors (23AWG) are slightly thicker than CAT5e (24AWG) so less loss...
