Dave coxhoe 0 Posted April 11, 2015 Hello everyone i am currently in the process of installing an 8 camera system in my detached bungalow, all the cables will be run into the attic space as this is where the ducting was run to. what i would like to do if possible is site the DVR in the attic aswell and im hoping the remote will work from the bedroom as there is only a single plasterboard wall between. if this dosn't work my question is this, is there anything out there similar to the magic eyes used for sky TV so i can leave the DVR in the attic. thanks Dave. myiicu 0 Posted April 11, 2015 Most attics are not conditioned spaces i.e. hot/humid in summer and cold in winter, so locating the dvr in the attic is not recommended. A hidden, well ventilated, and conditioned space is a better location for the dvr. Use a IR repeater/extender for the remote. http://www.homedepot.com/p/P3-International-Infrared-Repeater-and-Sensor-in-Black-P3-P8620/204511972?N=5yc1vZc652Z5qj http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=109&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011009 http://www.amazon.com/Nextronics-Infrared-Remote-Extender-Repeater/dp/B00C5PNW5S

myiicu 0 Posted April 11, 2015 If you need to extend your dvr display output, some hdmi repeaters/extenders include IR remote extension as well. http://www.startech.com/AV/Extenders/HDMI/HDMI-over-Cat5-Cat6-Extender~ST121SHD30 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G2179147
Numb-nuts 1 Posted April 13, 2015 You could use a good-quality wireless USB mouse in place of a remote control.
Dave coxhoe 0 Posted April 13, 2015 Yes never thought of that thanks but I don't know weather the heat would be an issue for the DVR in the summer.
Samir 0 Posted April 13, 2015 Heat would be really bad for the life of the dvr, so that's a serious consideration. But if the space remains cool during the summer, I don't see any real issue to it.
