Patzfan 0 Posted April 16, 2015 Using cat5e with 2.4mp 1080p hdcvi dahua. Longest run is 170ft. Getting hum bar and noise on furthest camera and looping on all at night. I've heard of all different methods of which pairs to use for power and which for the balun. Heard tying all the left over pairs for power helps long runs, can anyone clarify proper wiring for a cvi camera, balun and cat5e cable.
jeromephone 6 Posted April 16, 2015 Is this an analog camera? If it is it sounds like a ground loop. make sure everything is grounded and then make sure the camera cable is not running for a long distance parallel to the mains power.
Patzfan 0 Posted April 16, 2015 All my runs go away from the aerial point of entry of the power line. (power comes in above ground to one corner of my house), do I untwist 3 pairs and use 3 solid together for power and 3 striped for negative? Last pair to balun? I'm going to attempt individual power supplies today
jeromephone 6 Posted April 17, 2015 try only using one or two pairs for power and see if that helps
