konstanteeen 0 Posted April 18, 2015 Hey y'all, my question is more related to alarm systems rather than CCTV but I thought there might be some Optex or outdoor PIR experts sneaking around here. Anyways. I'm planning to use some HX-40 in combination with my CCTV and alarm system to trigger a silent alarm. Each PIR will cover one side of the house. Are those HX-40 PIRs built to be powered 24/7 or am I able to only power them when the Alarm system is armed? I'd hate to have them switching all the time when there is someone in the yard. Our yard is quite busy especially during the summer months. Thanks Konstanteeen
the toss 0 Posted April 19, 2015 Like anything electronic the greatest stress on the components is when you power it up/down. So I would say its longetivity might decrease if constantly powered up/down. The other thing to keep in mind is that the switching contacts will be in the alarmed state when powered off. If the HX40 has formC contacts (changeover) then you should be ok
