Lorex LNR360 Network Storage Access

We're using a Lorex LNR360 system and one of the things we need to do is to grab files remotely from the DVR to a laptop/computer on the network.

 

Right now, the system doesn't allow me to grab files off the NVR directly even if the computers are on the same local network which is strange because I'd want to be able to selectively back up some of my data off the box in situations when the NVR isn't easily accessible.

 

So I've tried lots of things already, all to no avail, and I'm beginning to feel as if its not possible/extremely difficult/expensive. If anyone here has any ideas that doesn't break the bank, I would be very appreciative!

 

I've been reading on some NAS or IP SAN ideas, but what I'm getting is that most NAS drives are pretty expensive.

 

Any thoughts guys?
