coolOrange 0 Posted April 28, 2015 Hey guys, so I am sorta new to this whole cctv thing. My dad wanted to update the cctv's he has at his gas station and he had some security people do some estimates and they said it would be a couple thousand and I told him we could work on it and save some money. So I have everything I need for except for the Video Loss Detection circuit that's used to cut off the gas pumps. I found this one but its kinda expensive (4 channel): http://promaxusa.com/Video-Loss-Detector.html here is another site: http://litelink.com/products/vld-3002.htm?gclid=CjwKEAjwvPepBRCoqo37teOD1XsSJAC7v6WQWFgGzesh0oZg4BiXnZ-Mg7szqGL4wQAqFXyppMhyxRoC2Rzw_wcB So I'm not sure how "techie" you guys are on this forum but i was wondering if there were any special usb like say arduino like devices that have a bnc pass-through, I wanna analyze the signal, I assume that I could look at something like signal to noise ration, something to do with signal strength or even just picture analysis. I might be able to do something with micro controllers also (if possible). I would think a hardware solution is a bit easier than a software one. I just need to create or buy something that would sorta flip a switch if the signal was lost or cut off. Thanks for any help. Update ** So I found this video online the guy talks about something called terminal blocks, I think that might help me get what i need

Have you considered an ip system? If you are installing a new system, it should be 720p at the minimum, 1080p would be better.

This is what was recommended, it comes with a special alarm output system, the security company was going to use the alarm output system and connect it to a special "video loss pump off" thing. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1130342-REG/honeywell_sperian_hrgx41_dvr_960h_4_channel_120ips_h264_1tb_usb.html and these are the cameras they recommend: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1085726-REG/honeywell_sperian_hb75h_ir_indoor_outdoor_bullet_camera.html

Lots of DVR have build in Video Loss Detection which will trigger alarm output which will shut off your Pump

I wasn't sure if the cameras or the dvr was good enough, i just assumed the company knew what they were talking about. If any of you guys are gas station owners, how would i go about connecting the dvr up to the gas cut off switches? I haven't looked into the system yet (am going tomorrow). May be u should talk to local electrician
jeromephone 6 Posted April 28, 2015 I would second getting an electrician involved. In our area we got stopped on a job pulling low voltage wire through conduit as the inspector was not happy with the firestop process, their was no code violation, and he could site no local codes but we knew better than to fight it as we would run into him on future jobs. If your local contractor has a good reputation and his approach is solid he may be your best option also if the system has been in place for a while it may be time to upgrade. I look at some of the cameras we put in 5 years ago vs today's Hd cameras and one can really see the difference
