Samsung sco Camera ok in day - but nothing at night ??

Recommended Posts

Have put up (another) Samsung sco- bullet camera. Works fine in the day but as soon as it switches to night vision the screen goes black.

Others all fine.

Have rebooted, it shows up camera info, briefly flashes the view, then goes to a black screen again.

The other cameras are picking up it's IR flashing on and off. Went out to check and the IR lights did appear to be 'lit up'.

Have checked the power connection at this end. So I will be up the ladder later to check connectors at camera end............ Pretty sure cable/connector is ok though, so need a few pointers please as to how to get this working?

It was bought a while back and has sat in the box for months. Bought a few at the time and can't be sure if this is a used camera or not. Either way, too late to send it back.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks.

Your power supply may not be sufficient to power all your cameras when the IR leds turn on.

Try unplugging your working cameras and power your suspect camera only.

Thanks for the reply.

It does appear to be the power supply. Have only connected the 1 camera to it so far and it won't even run that one. Stuck the meter on it and it's not chucking out what it says it should. So that's going back and am now looking for a 12v wall mounted power supply that will run 16 Samsung sco- cameras.

If anyone can make any suggests, that would be helpful. Must be 12v though (as currently not all cameras are dual v).

Cheers.

Most of those samsung sco cameras seem to run on either 12v dc or 24 volt ac. For 16 cameras you will need at least a 12 amp power supply at 12 volts dc, if your cameras are capable I would get a 24v AC power supply at least 6 amp maybe even 10 if you want room for expansion in the future. I have placed a few recommendations below.

12VDC 30 AMP with 18 outputs: http://www.amazon.com/Output-Distributed-Supply-Security-Camera/dp/B00BBKCJ16

24VAC 25/20 amp with 32 outputs: https://www.123securityproducts.com/altv2432600ulcb.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw1KGqBRC55bru-sa7zCcSJAAxsBf5IS7sgtUf7UZxWPLkOh3gB5goxhzRm-Tsuk7sAQowAxoC41zw_wcB

If your camera is capable I would recommend the 24vac one I use several of these and they work well I have however never used the supplier who put up the link.
