Swann NHD-806 Info for those who need

Evening gents,

 

I'm sure a few of you were like me who purchased the Swann NHD-806 because it's an inexpensive PoE IP camera... but did not want to buy the DVR. Many people say that everything is proprietary with Swann, not so true - it's usable just tougher.

 

I use iSpy here at home for my other cameras, and was seeking to get some higher quality ones. Ran into major issues hooking it up. Finally got some nitty gritty for those who need it:

 

Hooking up iSpy - or any other RTSP stream / feed software:

 

rstp://(IP ADDRESS):554/h264Preview_01_main

This will get you the feed, no sweat.

 

Further config, go download the Swann Link software from their site:

http://www.swann.com/us/apps

It can help config the OSD, brightness, an what-have-you.

 

And for those who want to dig in even deeper, the camera does have a built in telnet port open.

Hop on your favorite Telnet / SSH client - enter the IP address, and put in the ever-so-difficult username / pass combo:

 

root

(there is no password, just push enter for password)

 

su

cd /

ls

 

voila! looks like there are some other files in there if you dig around for other models. I also bought the wifi add-on camera which appears to only want to talk to it's weird tablet-thinga-maggig. Hopefully I can find some default wifi names / passwords in the configs so I can make a dummy endpoint and connect and config this bugger.

Have you tried getting to the web interface on the 806? http://(ip address)

Assuming it's a rebanded Hikvsion like the NHD-820, the full web interface will give you access to everything.

It is not and it does not possess a HTTP interface.

Watch your typos.

 

The telnet port should be closed in later builds. RTSP should remain unaffected.

 

If you're talking about the wireless 460 or 470, the Wifi config is available in Swannview Link. If you grabbed the 410, you're on your own!
