rickzeen 0 Posted May 6, 2015 I am confused which to select the Camera of two specification 1.Axis P5534-E- it has just specification of B/W 0.4 LUx at30 IRE F1.6. 2 Alcon camera- with specification of :Leds of IR 150meter distance so i need gud IR distance and gud night vision camera. which is better! i am confused with Lux and IR. which one could be better thank u expert
peaceflwr 0 Posted May 6, 2015 I am confused which to select the Camera of two specification 1.Axis P5534-E- it has just specification of B/W 0.4 LUx at30 IRE F1.6. 2 Alcon camera- with specification of :Leds of IR 150meter distance so i need good IR distance and good night vision camera. which is better! i am confused with Lux and IR. which one could be better IR is short for Infrared, which is the type of light that the camera emits at night to show the nightvision. LUX is the measurement that is used for different light sources and brightntess... the lower the LUX, the better you will see with less light.. SO, LUX being at .4 will only give you clarity if you have between full moon and deep twilight light... not that great! normally, companies will give you both the LUX AND the IR distance.. I am sure you can find the LUX of the Alcon camera if you look furthur into the specs.. but for me it sounds like the Alcon will give you better night vision than the Axis due to the Axis LUX being .4 ( you really want .001 or less) thank u expert Type of Light LUX Direct Sunlight 100000 Full Daylight 10000 Overcast Day 1000 Dusk 100 Twilight 10 Deep Twilight 1 Full Moon 0.1 Quarter Moon 0.01 Moonless Night 0.001 Overcast Night -0.00001 0.0001
rickzeen 0 Posted May 7, 2015 peaceflwr Your reply helped me a lot to differentiate the lux of 2 camera's. the lux of alcon is 0.01 and lux of Axis is 0.04 not 0.4(typing mistake). but not sure of the IR Distance of the axis camera could not find in the catalog! thank u peace flwr for your help. myiicu 0 Posted May 7, 2015 Axis P5534-E is a true day/night PTZ Dome camera with NO built-in/internal IR leds. So no specifications for IR led range/distance will be found in the datasheet...
Boogieman 1 Posted May 7, 2015 Alcon rebrands dahua cameras..so if you are paying a premium over dahua you are being ripped off.. manufacture lux and IR rating are worthless you cannot use them to compare to other makes...you can use them to compare models from the same company. peaceflwr 0 Posted May 7, 2015 Btw, it is actually just as important (maybe more) to look for DNR. DNR is digital noise reduction and it makes a huge difference in night vision.. 3D DNR is the best, and make sure it has WDR also. This will reduce the noise in the darker areas and make the night vision clearer.. it will also help make your motion detection work better (because its not being triggered by noise) and will save hard drive space. If you dont have a good DNR, your night vision will be terrible
