hi my first post on here. just bought new camera works during the day but as soon as ir's come on it loses video, ive now narrowed it down to a power problem. i dont know how to solve it, is it the cable or is it the PS not big enough. the camera is 60m 1000tvl ir camera. it says on it 550ma 12v and in the booklet it says POWER CONSUMTION:- <7W.

The PS im using is from another set and is a 12v 5amps.

this is spec for camera http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1855835.pdf

Your 12V 5A power supply should easily run your camera and while 60m is not all that far it is the most likely source of your problem if you are using the thin pre-made cable.

Thanks for reply. Im using a pre made power supply cable that I had with the other kit but using seperate video cable. What wire should I be using for the power side. Thank you.

I had this issue before, you need at least 18 gauge wires, 16 gauge be better. Those pre-made wires are junk and will eventually go bad in a couple of months. You can use cat5e or cat6 wires and make some yourself. Use a balun connectors for video if you do go that route.
