PIR sensor with IP capability?

Recommended Posts

All my search on PIR for IP cameras result in either:

- IP Cameras with a PIR sensor inside.

- IP Cameras with I/O port for an external PIR sensor

But I have never found a PIR sensor that is stand alone and can send an alert over LAN.

Is there such a thing? It would be easy for me to program the PVR software to start recording on specific cameras when an alert is received.

Otherwise, can someone recommend a 100$-ish outdoor IP camera that has a PIR sensor in it? 720P is okay for the location.

HIKVisions's only PIR cameras seem to be those cube(indoor) cameras.

Combine PIR-sensor and Arduino-Ethernet.

I always want to try this solution, but I have not experience with Arduino. Have anybody try this solution and care to share?

I've built a Z-wave PIR as an experiment...

Components:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030G8SC8

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008Q5CTBE

Motion detection on the PIR sends power to the relay, which closes the z-wave door sensor, sending a "tripped" state alert to my VeraLite. The VeraLite runs a scene that sends an external trigger to Blue Iris, to trigger motion recording on a group of cameras covering the front of my house.

I chose the RAB PIR because unlike most of these lighting PIRs, the RAB can be set to detect motion during daylight hours.

Sorry to reply to a 3 year old post, but.... Can you shed a little more light on VeraLite's ability to send an external trigger?

I currently have a wifi pir that triggers IFTTT to send an http admin command to BI to start recording on a camera. Am I correct in assuming you're using Veralite in the same way?

The reason I ask is that IFTTT has such a terrible delay, it is practically useless for triggering a camera to record in BI. I've been trying to figure out an alternative way to issue an http command to BI. I would definitely buy a Veralite if this method has been reliable for you?
