Camera Installation for Apartment Complex

Recommended Posts

Want to install a wireless camera security system in a large apartment complex. Property is on 26 acres with 60 buildings on it. Want cameras to be remotely monitored by any device. Property is in Ohio so need tough weather resistance. Have limited budget so can start with a few cameras and add. Looking for most reasonable approach. Got a quote for 8 NVR 2TB 6 cameras, $2,463. Wireless towers, $850, labor $780,Cat5E Cabling, $50 and PoE Ethernet Switch$100. With local tax it's about $4,500. Can I get better prices and still get the job done? Want to be able to see license plates. Thanks

Hi. Your quote does not match the area you want to cover .......plus the equipment quoted is not enough .

You are best taking your time posting pictures and budget ....... Also if you can do any of the work yourself

26 acres? for 4500? that won't even cover the purchase of the proper equipment for this project, you are looking at close to $15K roughly for someone who knows what they are doing to pull this off

Is that per building? If so, that sounds pretty fair. However, I wouldn't be going with individual NVRs for each building. Something of this size should be handled by a seasoned integrator.

Thanks for your responses. Here's some more info. Am not looking for cameras on each building. Can start with maybe 6 in certain troublesome areas. Have maintenance guys that can do the work. Don't know what an integrator is. The buildings are all 2 story. It's an old property with lead paint and really hard plaster. Will probably need equip in attics. (except of course the cameras) Several cameras should be on the main parking lot and on one street where drug dealing is suspected. What is the wireless towers that was mentioned? The guy who gave me the bid says they are small and go with each camera. Couldn't find how to post images on here.

from the guy that quoted you- ask to see premises of other clients that he has done and view the system at night and day- good luck in getting number plate recognition at that cost. Its not NCIS here, its the real world. Get 3 separate quotes and specify your requirements in a document- ie number plates- at what distance- and what lighting conditions ? number of days recording expected etc better getting expectations sorted before you start and are disappointed by the outcome.
