dcam 0 Posted June 15, 2015 Does anyone know if Hikvision still makes VGA ip cameras, I have a few small storage areas ( 2Mx3M) that really don't need HD cameras , they should be about half the price of a HD camera, or even another manufacturer that will record with motion detection on a hikvision NVR
MaxIcon 0 Posted June 15, 2015 The market for sub-MP IP cams isn't very strong any more. The Hik 2CD2012 1.3MP has a 704x576 stream, but it costs nearly the same as the 2032, and even more at some sites because the demand is lower. Most Hiks have a lower resolution substream as well. You won't find decent quality IP cams for much less than the Hiks in any resolution.
dcam 0 Posted June 16, 2015 Ok Thanks, it seems such a waste , only a few years ago you wouldn't dream of putting a hd camera in a tiny little store room, mostly because of the price.

Why is it a waste? they dont make the vga cameras because it would cost more to do so as there is little demand...like max said, just pull a substream or 1.3mp stream...these cameras are already way less than half the price that you were paying a few years ago for quality vga cameras. Or just by an older used camera..
MaxIcon 0 Posted June 16, 2015 Yeah, the Hik 3MP cams today cost 1/3 what my first 1MP cams did not many years ago, and have a lot more capability. Hard to beat that much cam for the price!
