thewireguys 3 Posted June 16, 2015 IP cameras are network devices just like printers and computers. You still have the 328ft distance limitation.
bentech 1 Posted June 16, 2015 What about PoE if I use the maximum ? Thanks !
thewireguys 3 Posted June 16, 2015 POE in a IP camera is no different then VOIP phones or wireless access points. Still have the 328ft distance limits.
bentech 1 Posted June 16, 2015 Okay , no need more power when using more lenght ?
survtech 0 Posted June 16, 2015 Okay , no need more power when using more lenght ?It depends on the power draw of the camera. In most cases, maximum PoE distance will be the same as maximum Ethernet distance (100 meters or 328 feet). That said, high power devices like PTZ cameras have reduced distance limits. CAT6 may work for slightly longer distances, depending on the gauge of the wires.
HDCamerasUSA 0 Posted June 17, 2015 Some cameras are different but that's basically it. The max you're looking at for any IP run is about 300 to 350 feet or about 300m
gpower07 0 Posted August 28, 2015 you can get a Poe extension. so add another 100M.
bozman 0 Posted November 6, 2015 I just swung by Microcenter and noticed they had CAT7 cables. Does this have any bearing on this or is it just strictly data carrying speed?
