Tom the Handyman 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Need help with installation and power supply specification. I have 8 box camera's (24 VAC) mounted in outdoor enclosures with heater/blowers. What size PS do I need? AMP's and # of outputs. Can I use siameese cable and use the same wires for the camera power and heater/blower? Thanks Tom
normicgander 0 Posted March 16, 2006 I will asume your using analog cameras and will assume some numbers: If cameras operate at 4watts ea, then 8x4=32w 8 outdoor enclosures, say 20w ea with heater and blower on, then 8x20=160watts. (get the exact number from the OEM) The power budget then is 160+32= 192w. This doesn't account for cable runs because I dont know the lengths. It may not be much. Will the system be expanded? Check out the Altronix ALTV248300UL 24vac @ 300W 8 individually fused outputs...
securitymonster 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Can I use siameese cable and use the same wires for the camera power and heater/blower? Yes, but what is the distance of your furthest camera from the power box?
rory 0 Posted March 16, 2006 What cameras and what Housings, need to calculate the current draw in mA or Amps.
securitymonster 0 Posted March 16, 2006 going by 192 watts like normic said, that is OEM and probably higher that the real numbers, thats only 8 amps. I would think a 12.5 amp power supply would be enough.
