rpwolf 0 Posted June 25, 2015 Like to install a system at a lake home with a dock. The dock does have a conduit running to it for power. Would like to run 6-8 cameras to cover house and dock - nearly all outdoor and would like some type of night vision. 80-100ft on night vision would be great. Thinking I "may" put a PTZ camera on dock to cover area. While I'm a tech geek, I don't want to try and troubleshoot and maintain this from afar, so thinking turnkey solution would be better than building my own, but open to suggestions. Want DVR function with good size HD for retention. Definitely want HD IP cameras. Planning on running Cat5 and using POE. Thinking I can pull a Cat5 thru the conduit down to the dock and put a dedicated POE outdoor switch there for use. Then another in basement of house. The house isn't huge, but is 3 stories, scaling up from lake to road. Its 10 yrs old, so not a nightmare to cable, but wont be easy either. House has good high speed internet. Biggest needs for me are high reliability, reviewing quality video remotely and ease of operation. Deal with IT stuff all day, don't want to do it at vacation home!
