How do you compare the multitude of LTS DVR/NVR systems?

I'm trying to pick a new system. My old system is a LTD2304-HE and it's time for an upgrade to newer technology. I'd like to leverage my existing cams and wiring while I slowly upgrade to more and better cams.

 

Is there some kind of comparison chart to compare all the models of LTS equipment. For example, I'm looking at an LTD8316T-FA ($339) and an LTD8316T-FT ($299) and I don't immediately spot the difference. I also see 8 channel systems that are also in the $300 range, what gives? I want the best bang for the buck that I can get for approximately $300.

 

On a side note would you go with TVI or CVI on the upgrade? I know that NVR is really the best way to go, but I can't afford a complete change out and the current HD analog tech will still impress me compared to the NTSC stuff that I'm currently using. I realize my current camera quality won't improve until I replace them with HD cams.
