Mavsynchroid 0 Posted July 5, 2015 Hey guys. New to all of this. My family owns a liquor store and we've had the same camera system for as long as I can remember. It is a Tyco ADT digital video recorder with 4 cameras. Anyway, last night on the 4th of July, someone broke in to the store and stole from us. The cops have asked for a copy of the video from the 4 cameras for those couple of minutes the thief was in the store. They gave me a 16gb usb flash drive to put the videos on to give to them tonight. I'm fairly competent when it comes to computers, but here's my problem. Every time I try to use the "Clip Copy" feature on the system to copy the specific time points of video I want (about 20 mins or so), it instantly says "USB not formatted!!" So I tried formatting it on my laptop. No luck. I tried formatting it as an NTFS, and the other two options it gave me. Still no luck! The usb is currently empty right now by the way. It seems nothing I do will make the ADT system recognize this as a formatted usb drive. What am I doing wrong??? Please help!
Securame 0 Posted July 5, 2015 If the system is very old, it might need to be formatted in FAT32, not NTFS. If that is the case, I think the maximum capacity you can have is 2Gb. You could format it at 2Gb, or dine an old FAT32 pendrive, export the files there, and just copy them to the 16Gb pendrive on your computer.
Mavsynchroid 0 Posted July 5, 2015 Stumbled across that idea as well. For some reason a quick format said permission denied write only or something, so I'm formatting it the long way. Been about 2 hours and about 85% done. Hope this works. For some reason the dvr thingy deletes new content after 24 hours, regardless of settings or storage space.
