Beaufighter 0 Posted July 6, 2015 Hello I have a SAANCE DVR HD (?) system, I get the impression that the cameras are HD, but the picture as it appears on my HP monitor is clearly quite heavily compressed and lacks definition. I can't read a number Plate at 15ft! I've spent six months trying various settings, but there is no obvious way to Improve the quality. Is this the sort of quality I should expect on a 960H H.264 System? Could the DVR be faulty, I had to send a previous box back because it didn't work at all. If the DVR is just poor resolution, any suggestions of a replacement box. Cheers R
Securame 0 Posted July 6, 2015 An analog DVR (960H) will never be high definition. You have analog cameras, if you want high definition, you will have to change DVR and cameras. That said, with an analog DVR and analog camera, you should be able to read a license plate at 15 feet, with the right camera, the right angle, the right config and installation, etc.
Beaufighter 0 Posted July 6, 2015 Hello Securame Thanks for your quick reply. The Saance system is sold as a HD set up, but I suspect the only HD part is the HDMI connection. So it is in fact all analogue... you get what you pay for, but I did expect better resolution. So to get HD quality it's a fully digital system, what price could I get an 8ch system for I have seen them for around £1000 could i get a reasonable home system for very much less? Regards Richard

Regards Richard Hi. Richard ..... Yes you can get 8 camera system for a lot less than £1000. Look at the dahua 3mp cameras and NVR Before you buy again post your findings and we can tell you if it will do the job you need

Beaufighter 0 Posted July 7, 2015 Hello Thank you for the suggestion of HD CCTV for well under £1000, I will investigate further, although I'm not thinking of buying in the immediate future. Buying the Saance system wasn't a mistake really as we had some garden furniture stolen, so it was a quick purchase. We'd previously had a good system from around 10 years ago, so I imagined things had moved on quality-wise, but wasn't buying expecting HD. The Saance was advertised as 'High Resolution' rather than high definition, so to an unquestioning mind the implication is there. Still it's compared to 10 years ago it's good value for money, but I have been unable to get the level of detail I need. Regards Richard

Beaufighter 0 Posted July 8, 2015 Hello Yes, I found a video showing the difference between my analogue set up and a digital one, the analogue was the same quality as mine i.e. number plates appear garbled, whereas the HD ones are crystal clear.
