trauts14 0 Posted July 21, 2015 I bought a CMVision IR illuminator. I want to cut off the female power adater on the back and wire it directly to a power supply. Once the adater is removed how can I determine which wire is positive and which wire is negative? If I am not sure and I wire it incorrectly will I fry my illuminator or do most have protection preventing incorrect wiring?
myiicu 0 Posted July 21, 2015 The power connector on those IR illuminators are standard 2.1mm DC Power Connectors with center pin positive 12 VDC. Do not connect to power source greater than 14VDC or you may damage your IR illuminator. The IR illuminator should be protected from polarity reversal. Get a multimeter if you don't have one!!! SyconsciousAu 0 Posted July 22, 2015 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/6-x-Screw-Fixing-5-5x2-1mm-Male-Female-CCTV-Camera-DC-Power-Jack-Connector-/191637487445?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2c9e7bff55 I just use those to wire my illuminators. Saves cutting off the plugs and keeps the warranty intact.
