icek 0 Posted March 20, 2006 I have a GV800 card installed with Geovision 7.0 software installed running 8 cameras. Installation went fine, however, Geovision restarts after about 1 - 2 Hrs and loops with one error which is a dialogue box with control characters ( I have seen this error when the USB dongle is not inserted). I say control characters because they are not legible and could be that I have not got chinese or someother lanaguage pack installed. The second error comes occassionally but usually after the above dialogue box has appeared on my screen numerous times. "The instruction at 0x73d31351 referenced memory at 0x00000004, the memory could not be read" This is the second MB, CPU and RAM I have tried and I know they are fully working as I have tested with HW diagnostic utilities and used in another machine with no problems. My setup is listed below :- P4 3.0Ghz, 800FSB, 2MB Cache / 64 ECS 915PL Mptherboard with Intel 915 chipset 512MB DDR400 RAM 80GB Primary HDD and 160GB Sata drive for CCTV storage Nvidia 6500 PCI Express 256MB Windows 2000 SP4 Hoping someone can help
WildCard 0 Posted March 20, 2006 So this is the second unique system you have had this card in, and it's failing in both systems? I'd think maybe the card is at fault then - but odd that it's holding on and erroring only after an hour or two. Maybe it's a heat related issue? If so, it would run badly after the reboot too, since it wouldn't have had much time to cool in that shutdown time... Weird. Anything in the windows event viewer area around the times of the crashes? -WC-

rory 0 Posted March 21, 2006 Does Geo work on Windows 2000?
icek 0 Posted March 21, 2006 Problem resolved ! It was a USB issue, in that the USB occasionally tripped or intermittently failed - can't think of a better term to explain. Anyway, I have a Sony 17" monitor which has built in USB ports, the monitor in turn is connected to the PC via a USB extension lead. I noticed that I got the same dialogue box / control character error whenever I switched off the monitor, with the USB dongle plugged in the monitors USB ports. I decided to connect the USB dongle directly into the back of the PC onto the mainboard without any extensions and I have not had any more problems since - well for the past couple of days anyway. Conclusion ! Monitor USB ports switched off whenever monitor is switched off and occasionally even when monitor was left on. The dongle missing dialogue box should be legible i.e in english or installed language. If this had been the case I think I would have resolved the problem sooner. Rory FYI - The Geo software works on windows 2000 SP4 and also win2k3 server G22 FYI - I am using Kingston and have also used Elixir Wildcard - It was a weird problem, but I have managed to resolve through a process of elimination, as stated above would have resolved sooner if the dongle error had been in English. What language does anyone else get this dongle missing error in, is it in English, installed language or other i.e system control characters ...
