drbob001 0 Posted August 4, 2015 I've got a number of AutoDome Easy II (analog) with a LTC 8786 (serial to bi-phase converter) that uses their fine piece of software to access the cameras. However, the software wasn't intended to talk to these cameras, instead the system controlled older AutoDome cameras... It "sorta works" but not nearly as well as one would wish, and I have to remote desktop into the XP machine the software runs on. Well, I guess you get the picture... LOL So here's the question of the day: Anybody ever seen the RS-232 command structure to talk to the cameras? I'm thinking of designing my own software to run on a more... current... O/S and to account for some of the features of the cameras so I can talk to them nicely. Any pointers would be appreciated.
prairietech 0 Posted August 5, 2015 I have been interested in doing something like this for years. But now with network cameras getting (somewhat) more affordable, I'm focusing my attention in that direction. However here is a link that may have some information that you can use: http://axtsystems.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=81:biphasemessage&catid=47:biphasedecoding&Itemid=80 Here is another link for software that is already done for you. http://www.serialporttool.com/PTZ.htm Good luck
drbob001 0 Posted August 6, 2015 Awesome reply - that gave me most of what I'm looking for. When I get my project done I'll be sure to share it with the group, since I'm looking at something more than a PTZ controller, with a map interface, etc. - I've got a few crazy ideas I want to play with. prairietech 0 Posted August 6, 2015 Glad the links were helpful. You should have a good cheap supply of these cameras since they will be slowly moving into extinction. I've still got a couple of them running at home but they don't compare to the IP PTZs available now in picture quality. IP PTZs are still too expensive so I can see where your project is coming from. I'll look forward in seeing what you come up with.
