darrylchin86 0 Posted August 5, 2015 Hello all, I'd like to get some ideas, suggestions and advice for what I need. Background info: We currently have 3x 16 channel NightOwl Analog standalone systems, they monitor our retail boutique, warehouse, and our house (since they are next to each other). I work in IT, so I am comfortable with configuring a PC solution, running cables, etc. Needs: - IP Cameras (Want to use Ethernet cables for easier install) - Remote Viewing from iPhone - Decent quality, doesn't have to be HD What I'm looking for is a centralized solution using Ethernet cables, I don't like that we have 3 systems. I'm hoping to not break the bank, but at the same time have a long term and good solution. I'm open to using a standalone NVR, or a Server/PC type setup. I'm not familiar with what is needed to create/install a Server/PC type setup, so if the necessary components can be identified, it would be really helpful. We do not need PTZ, motion sensors would be welcomed (not necessary). We are not a high-traffic store, so it's really for basic monitoring, no need for crazy amounts of days stored etc. I'm hoping that this kind of gives an idea into what I'm looking for, if it isn't clear or if you guys need more info, please ask. SunnyKim 2 Posted August 5, 2015 Your current system is probably in CIF recording. The video quality may not be good enough. You are only to upgrade your DVR to be capable of recording D1 or 960H or WD1 X 16 Ch X 30FPS. That would cost you minimum, for less than U$300. They are now supporting new features , remote access to the video on your smart phones. As you wish, you can go for IP system, as well. The video resolution would be necessarily to be HD (720P or 1080P). But make sure not to remove the video cables for analog cameras, just in case coming back when you are getting troubles with IP system: 48 IP cameras could be a huge system to handle, may be costly.
