dexterash 0 Posted August 5, 2015 Usually, the "latency" depends on the speed of the network, not on the device itself. Most dedicated NVRs will do close-to-realtime decoding. I know that IP systems inherently have latency, but I need for the system to have the lowest possible latency, we commonly use Avigilon, but it is no where near fast enough. In our testing of a number of VMS systems, IndigoVision did have among the lowest latencies - on the order of 150-170ms. It does tend to provide the lowest latencies using their own hardware, including cameras and encoders, but also has tested relatively low with Axis, Sony and Bosch cameras. Their cameras are not cheap, though. 720P fixed are on the order of $800+ and their Ultra 2k cameras (1080p) are on the order of $1,300+. If latency is important then then indigovision is a good choice but if you're looking for ease of use solution that is easy to deploy and manage then Avigilon better option. I understand even Pelco apparently took my evaluations as a learning experience but Genetec didn't. Funny, I heard they have decided not to go after the casino vertical any more. survtech 0 Posted August 9, 2015 The key issue I found was "Live" viewing. There are many VMS' that work very well for playback, although some are better at things like time and ease to create clips - especially at finding and marking beginning and end. But "Live" viewing is a different animal. The VMS manufacturer has to make a conscious effort to reduce latency to a minimum, minimize camera call-up times and simplify PTZ controls. skomo 0 Posted August 11, 2015 first of all what switches are you using ? are the cameras/ encoders on the same switches as the recorders ? what hardware is in the recorders ? SSD / flash what are the types of nic connections ? GB or 10GB and above ?
