FPS..PPS...IPS? How do i know

Recommended Posts

What is the difference in FPS and IPS? is there any other measurement I need to know?

Is there a place on the internet that will show me 5FPS vs 30FPS?

Thanks

James

Thats a great demo! Thanks so much!

The customer wants all cameras to be real time..no delay or lag.

When the DVR specs say 5FPS is that per camera? or spread across all 16.

Thanks again for the link. Have one that will show the difference of BW/Color/IR cameras? Just as a demo to a customer.

Thanks

James

FPS is Frames per second. IPS is Images per second. I can’t think of any site that will demo what you are looking for. Just think of three pictures displayed in one second apposed to 30 pictures per second. The more pictures per second, the more realtime it will look when played back. There is a site called CCTV information that will tell you a lot about CCTV. There are other sites explaining CCTV as well, I will try to get address' for you.

Some of the other guys may help you find a demo too.

You have to read the specs carefully, sometimes you even have to call in and find out if the 5FPS is per channel or the overall FPS. Most times it is total fps, so you will divide by the number of channels.

How real time is your customer wanting? Most people can't tell much difference over 15-20FPS. I think broadcast television is 28FPS. Just play with that demo, set one on 15fps and the other on 30fps.
