LittleScoobyMaster 0 Posted August 9, 2015 I've noticed a newer style of infra red illuminator LEDs that have started to crop up here and there and I was wondering if anyone happens to have more information about them. For instance, this new type which requires less numbers of LEDs is rather interesting, but also disturbing. http://www.univivi.com/34-u03r-ir-illuminator.html These LEDs seem to have decent coverage. One downside is that they are more visible at night, they can easily be seen as very bright little red lights at night versus the other kinds of standard infra red LED lights I am used to which just have a very faint red glow which is barely noticeable. Guessing these are SMT emitters maybe? Then there is this type, which might be the same as the ones listed above but I can't tell for certain: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078427-REG/iluminar_irc300_a40_24_40o_300_90m_850nm.html Are these types of LEDS newer? They seem to be more powerful than the standard smaller ones but, is there more to it than that? And why are they so visible? I like the fainter glow of the older style. Older style I am used to working with: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078406-REG/iluminar_irc182_a45_24_45_182_55m_850nm.html Also, of the types listed above, which are the best? Trying to figure that out. thanks
