Arm is pretty good quality. We use thier box cameras and thier PTZ's. Not a hitch so far and are a little cheaper than similar items (in cost).

Sounds good. I've never used their box cams, but I just used their outdoor day/night ptz for the first time and it turned out good.

It's weird how it really takes off if you hold down the pan. Is there anyway to have a one speed pan without the acceleration?

Will their PTZ's work with most DVR manufacturers? So far I've only used it with a custom PC DVR, but I'd like to try it with the embedded linux kind.

PTZ likely running Pelco D, if Russell has his stuff together, so it should likely work, at least giving basic functionality, with most everything. Check with member JMANOFNVS on other stuff - they have kind of been "like an arm" of ARM for the last couple of years.

They sell OEM just like Eclipse, Provideo, Hunt, etc .. most are the same products.

And... like some of the better ones they have a guy on-the-ground ("in country" - like China in their case I understand) that "knows decent product" and that really helps to make it work. Oh... and a guy at the top that knows what it takes to "build a brand." Personally I've never sold the stuff.

Im using a newly released VP dome put out by ARM (ExView) and getting excellent results. They dont have this cam on the ARM website yet, but be on the lookout.

My only beef with this camera is, out of the box, the cable is fed thru the side of the base of the camera which makes no sense for a vandal proof dome. Re-routing the line under the camera base is somewhat of a task, but it can be done.

Yeah ive used the SuperHad version, not bad, (the 480TVL version) but i want to get my hands on the Exview .. there's a couple newer domes coming out soon ill be getting my hands on hopefully ... with also have OSD and hopefully WDR . day night Exview with IR Cut Filter. There are a couple Korean Manus using the same Dome housing so its hard to tell sometimes .. plus they generally offer the same specs also .. its the WDR, IR Cut, and 360 degree gimble that makes the diff and which costs extra .. they all seem to offer EXview and Superhad .. everyone tries to keep the sales price down in the US so they just sell the Superhad or Digital Day Night versions .. its good to offer those too though as a cheaper alternative .. ive used the Superhad Day Night with seperate IR and worked out good, though without iR not as low lux as the true day night with an IR Cut Filter.

Still, its a line of the same cameras and specs basically that everyone is getting on the bandwagon with .. next is to specialise in those with the OSDs and make some custom software for them .. be nice if they had a zoom lens so could also auto focus remotely .. in addition to full camera setup ..

Rory, those new WDR domes sound awesome. The D/N SuperHad sounds pretty sweet too. What I need most right now is a rugged dome with WDR. Make that a minidome and were really talking.

I havent tried the SuperHad myself. I could save 50 bucks by using it instead for more price-conscious customers. Afterall, they're both a hi-res dome and use that same housing. Asthetically, its a nice looking camera wherever its mounted.

Yeap, will have more info after the show .. I want to get away from people having to set up or focus cameras, and just let us preset them for different situations, or do it remotely for them .. and WDR Day Night is going to be nice .. will see what happens.
