bentech 1 Posted August 19, 2015 Hi , After a thunderstorm , I got 2 cams damaged (one PTZ and one Analog bullet). My question is do we really need to protect the CAMS with surge protector ? Thanks !
the toss 0 Posted August 19, 2015 A surge protector only protects against "dirty" power, it will do diddly squat against a lightning strike. The best you can do is to insulate the camera from any metalic structure & keep cabling well away from any metal structure - which can sometimes be quite difficult
jeromephone 6 Posted August 20, 2015 ditek has a line of lightning protection for coax and ethernet.
