Dilemmas, RJ12 system / RJ45 system

Recommended Posts

New to the forum, please forgive me if this is a noob question.

Looking to expand/replace my current system

Current system

Revo america DVR 16 channel (8 RJ12 8 BNC) (revo mode r16dvr4)

I currently have about 14 cameras, of which 2 is bnc, the rest rj12. I run a converter to fit the rj12 to bnc.

I wanted to add new HD cameras and changing new dvr/nvr (something easy to use, mobile app, support 32 channel)

My ideal set up would be able to use all my existing cameras and add new hd cameras and retaining the current rj12 cables already in place. (due to cost of running new wires and buying new cameras). This is for my shop, and the cables needs to go through 3 concrete wall, hence changing all new wires can be quite expensive.

What is your suggestion?

I was suggested to use hikvision DS-9632NI-ST , but i don't think it support rj12

I plan on adding about 8-10 camera, all high definition.

What I like about the Hikvision is the ability to expand the memory to 32 TB

and revo don't seem to make a 32 channel system.

my "plan" is either run a rj12 to rj45 converter so I can use the hik system, and add new rj45 wires to run the new cameras. but I heard they cost like $100 each. At 14 cameras, that is like 1400 in converters

Thanks for looking,

Jack

Check the markings on your long cable runs to determine if you have CAT3 or CAT5 wiring.

CAT3 cabling is not recommended for RJ45 connections...

Hi. No your system is not able to use HD or rj45.

You will need to change your dvr for a hybrid if you want to use existing cameras along with HD

But your existing system is known as 100oms and this will give you problems
