Dedicated Micros SD8N30 Having trouble updating (still)

Ok so I am trying to update my Dedicated Micros SD (8N30 M3S) but I am having nothing but problems

 

Everything is fine when I load on the 4.2 firmware, but I want to use the newer firmware as the interface is a million times better

 

Unfortunately no matter how I try to load the latest firmware (6.3) I get no video output and the telnet console says "SAFE MODE CODEC FAIL", the DVR does nothing else and fails to do simple commands like dir /hdd0

 

I do not understand what is going on

as when I load 4.2 back onto the unit it works perfectly fine

 

I have tried doing a network upgrade through ftp and also tried a USB upgrade

The network upgrade went fine except I could not unzip NVD0UPGRADE_loader_m3sp.zip to /nvd0

and the unzip program gives me no reason why it could not extract

 

and the USB upgrade results in an error saying insert a valid USB drive, it then restarts about 5 minutes later and does same as before

 

Any ideas???

Don't want to get rid of a perfectly working DVR

but I cant stand the old interface and I don't see any possible way other than sending it to dm of upgrading it to the latest firmware
