mudmuncher 0 Posted August 28, 2015 I build an item similar to this for racing helmet visors. I have made this prototype for CCTV to automatically clean the lens and wondering if there is a need for an item such as this? Looking for your commits, both good and bad. zr1 0 Posted August 28, 2015 So harsh environment, like maybe where dump trucks unload dirt/slurry all the time? The replaceable film needs regular replacing, so a little pricey on that, and also means somebody tending to it on a schedule. So probably not for the average dentist office. So some place where there's a lot of airborne muck/dirt and also where there's enough money being made. NASCAR pit area? Gold/Silver/Diamond mines? Adult film studios? Presidential political debates? SyconsciousAu 0 Posted August 28, 2015 How is it powered? Most box camera's are POE, 12VDC or 24VAC. It would probably make sense to have it powered by one of those standards. A number of enclosures already use 24VAC to run fans, heaters and wipers.
mudmuncher 0 Posted August 30, 2015 The unit runs on 12 volts. It has a programmable timer to make the film move. the roll of film is $16 and is 100' long. Only need to move film 3" to clear the view. that is 400 moves with one roll.
mudmuncher 0 Posted August 30, 2015 Here is a picture of the unit unattached. Looking for more comments.
jeromephone 6 Posted August 30, 2015 you can buy housing with a wiper which may be cheaper. http://www.2bsecurity.com/cctv-camera-housings.html Note I know nothing about this company but this page shows some washers and wipers for camera housings.

There are probably reliable used cars that can be bought for the price of the enclosures on that website.
