Also 960h recording resolution is that poor by today's standards? 1080p live viewing but 960h playback seems bit of a con to me although would make little difference when using an iphone to playback? Are these Swann Nvr's poe? No mention on the specification, is poe the norm these days?

IF something happens and you need the recording you will want high resolution so you can get a proper ID. POE is the norm for all but the low end junk cameras. Some higher end PTZ's use too much power for poe, but that is a different situation.
mkkoskin 0 Posted August 31, 2015 Quick look at the links tells me the Maplin one comes with 2TB drive, Costco only has 1TB. So they're not the exact same packages. Might have other differences, because 1TB extra shouldnt raise the price by £180. edit: Another quick look tells me the cheaper one is 4 channel recorder, the other one is 8 channel, so has 4 spare. james-c 0 Posted September 16, 2015 Guys, the info on the Maplin website that says recording is 960h is totally wrong. This NVR records and plays back at 1080p full HD. No idea where they got 960h from but it is in no way correct.
