madmandare 0 Posted September 5, 2015 Hi there, I have a new DVR and remote monitoring for my iphone. I have set everything up correctly such as IP, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, DNS, Port etc and i have gone onto my Virgin Media Router and allowed Port Forwarding for the chosen IP and Port. Remote View works when my phone is connected to my home WIFI, however as soon as i dissable my WIFI or say go into the garden and try and access through outside WAN internet and 4G the remote view stops working. Here are two screen shots that show my current settings: The APP that i am using on my iphone is called "NVSIP". Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, Marcus
Securame 0 Posted September 5, 2015 What IP are you trying to connect to from WAN? Your public IP? Do you have some kind of DDNS? (like dyndns, etc) Also, forward in TCP/UDP, just in case. And try to make sure that your DVR only uses one port.
Boogieman 1 Posted September 5, 2015 Have you tested the port? is it open using canyouseeme.org? The DNS entry in your DVR should be 8.8.8.8, googles dns service, not your routers. What type of internet provider do you have? cable? sat?
madmandare 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Hi there, Thanks for your replies. I have changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8, i have turned to forwarding to TCP/UDP also. I have also tested my port of 9101 on canyousee.org, and it's working. I have cable broadband, 60mb. Yes i am trying to connect to my local IP. How do i use my public IP via an app? Thanks
madmandare 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Hey, I've managed to get it working!! Thanks for all of your help. I'm the end I just found out my routers Public IP address and used that on the phone app, it then worked straight away even when just connected to 4G and with Wifi turned off. Unfortunately thought my routers public IP is dynamic and so will change from time to time and my ISP will not provide a static IP. But atleart it's working now, Thanks Marcus
