Hikvision not recording to PC when scheduled

I just posted this in another forum prior to finding this forum, seem to have more active users here so i'm going to post this

 

Hello everyone, I was just introduced to This Hikvision brand couple weeks ago after having my motorcycle stolen from my driveway. so I've been reading and watching a lot of videos on this.

I pre-allocated a 1TB drive and I'm curious on why in the NVR_DIR folder once it was created automatically has 501GB of MP4 files. Can I delete them because I tried playing them back in the software and by external and neither works.

 

Even when I manually try to record or when I have a schedule record the live view shows recording but I don't see the file being created. I figured it would be easy to spot since all the files shows a modified date/time. if I just did a recording at 10:30 I would expect to see a file created at that time. even the calendar doesn't sure the mark to let me know someone was recorded. I've been working on this for the last 3 days. I really didn't want to have to post this question and I can't go to hikvision since I didn't buy it directly from them.

 

If this question has been asked and answered I'm sorry I didn't see it and i've been searching by many titles and reading through these threads to see if anything would help.

 

Also in the 1st pic is what my IMVS 4200 looks like, but in a manual and a video I saw online and on youtube, the 2nd image seem to be the software I need. can anyone identify that version?

have you set the recording settings on the camera self to match your PC NVR settings? Try using a Standalone NVR works much better

I figured the problem out it was me and the manual. this manual was not written well. some area was clear others was just like if they forgot some things. I thought it wasn't recording but it was the problem was 2 things.

 

1. Until I found a video on youtube yesterday I just assumed that once I went to playback and select the date, the files would show, but I didn't know until the video that I have to click "Refresh" then they showed up.

 

2. I'm not sure where the files are being stored because my manual recordings are set for my K drive and it's empty. when I pre-allocated my other drive and it created the NVR folder it placed 502GB of 250MB files and I only been playing with this for the last couple days so I'm not sure where all those files came from or if I can delete them. Once I get home today I'll do some more research, but if anyone knows off the top then that would be appreciated.
