connect cam to nvr / built in poe switch ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, first I am new at this but search buttons are my friend lol. So please don't flame me, searching for days.

I finally had made my decision and bought a dahua nvr and foscom cams. Both are POE's.

The problem is probably simple but I must keep scrolling trough it and doing the same mistake over and over.

Here goes:

- Made sure my router was DHCP enabled, it is (logged into the router) confirmed router IP, IP range and subnet mask.

Connect everything:

nvr to router (only one port on the NVR for LAN)

cams to nvr poe ports (only 4 POE on the unit)

Set network on NVR, now I can remote connect to it. ( so that must be good )

Try to do a search for the cams with no results, after getting frustrated I connected the cam to the router, ran ip scanner and there ya go its there. did the setup and there i video on laptop.

I then scan it from the NVR, its found, I load it were are good. get picture from nvr.

But i want my cams in the POE Switch on the nvr. I plugged it back into the NVR POE and try to find it, no luck.

I even tried loading the cam with a static IP to find it with the NVR. no luck.

There is switch setting in the NVR, the manual doesn't say much and when you search switch or network switch setting, you get various results and I haven't stumbled on to a good one.

Not sure what switch settings need to be. ( I tried leaving default, or putting in an ip from the ip range.) no luck but the subnet mask matchs.

I am assuming I got a setting wrong somewhere. Even had a friend remote connect and take a look and wasn't able to link it, but got stumbled with that on board POE switch like I did.

Can anyone suggest anything it would be helpful, even if it something to use as a search.

Thanks in advance

I figured it out,

It was the port for the camera, default was 80, I changed it to 88. It was actually suppose to be set at 888 and it connected right away.

All is good thanks,
